On of my favorite BPM quotes is not about BPM as a space, but it is about process. It is a quote from Toyota that summarizes why process is so important.
"We get brilliant results from average people managing brilliant processes. We observe that our competitors often get average (or worse) results from brilliant people managing broken processes."
This appeared in HBR in September-October 1999 in an article called "Decoding the DNA of the Toyota Production System" by Steven Spear and Kent Bowen. I think Toyota's success speaks for itself.
